Charles Augustin de Coulomb was a French engineer and physicist, and one of the founders of electrostatics.
He was born on June 14, 1736, in Angoulême, in a prosperous noble family.

His father was a prominent royal official. Coulomb studied at the prestigious College of Cat-Nation, where he developed a passion for mathematics and wrote several works that earned him membership in the scientific society in Montpellier.
