The theatrical career of Riverside native Darel Glaser has taken him from Riverside to the both coasts of the United States to London, Japan and more stops along the way.

Glaser began his career as a student at Blythe Park School, when a vocal coach suggested to his parents, Sue and George Glaser, that he audition for a chorus part in Oliver, which was to begin touring.

The audition landed him the lead role – and the beginning of his travels. As Glaser tells it, his mother traveled with him during the school year, and in the summer he was a “regular kid.”

When he reached the age of 18, he went to Los Angeles where he was a working actor doing TV (Marcus Welby, M.D.

being one of them) and movies. Broadway would still beckon and he would go back and forth for different roles as they came up.
