Former VJ Sophiya Haque passes away
British Asian VJ and actress Sophiya Haque passed away this morning. It has been reported that the model died of cancer in London.
Sophiya Haque's partner David White confirmed that she died on Wednesday and she was diagnosed with cancer several weeks ago, The Guardian reports.
Sophiya had been starring as Sylvia in Privates on Parade in the West End of London, directed by Michael Grandage, and co-starring Simon Russell Beale.
She also played Poppy in Coronation Street, had a role alongside Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy in the 2008 film Wanted, and was a DJ on BBC Asian Network, reports the daily.
Sophia Haque rose to fame in 1990s as a VJ/host and a cadbury advertisement.
